AFRICA. One of the most incredible experiences of my life. I really don't know where to begin, it's quite overwhelming actually.

We were able to spend some time with the Maasai people of Tanzania. Such beautiful and strong people fighting to keep their culture and traditions alive. I can't take credit for any of these pictures. I stole them all from my personal photographer...My very talented sister Krissy. I'm still trying to sort through a billion pictures! Hopefully I'll get them up before my next trip!! =)

Love this place.

We made it just about 24 hours later.

LONGEST DAY EVER!

We missed our connecting flight in Fortaleza.

To this day, I NEVER sleep well on planes.

Correction: I DON`t sleep on planes.

I am now in Belem.

We are eating the most amazing fruits I didnt even know existed.

My hair is SO CURLY here.

IT IS EXTREMELY HOT and HUMID.

I love how my skin feels here.

The brazilian people are SO ALIVE. SO FUN. SO WARM and INVITING.

I have eaten way to many PAO GE QUIEJO. They are like these cheesy bread things.

DELICIOUS.

Today for lunch we had mashed up Avocado with milk and sugar. Surprisingly, VERY GOOD.

The trip has been perfect so far. One adventure after another. No itineraries, no expectations. It is just what I needed. Future plans include visits to far aways islands, Riding a Water Buffalo, naps in a hammock in the jungle, and so much more.

For my Birthday this year I decided to be super random. SHOCKER! =)

Anyways...I recruited my little sister and bought 2 tickets to California.

Disney is doing a thing this year where you get in for free on your Birthday, so why not?

Yes....We flew to Disneyland for the day! We were in California for like 22 hours. Disney gave me a pin to wear that said Happy Birthday Sherry so everywhere I went, every ride I got on and off, and even during the ride, I was wished a Happy Birthday!

It was quick. It was way to much fun.

My cousin Autie and her two kids picked us up at the airport and we went straight there. It was a blast. I wish I would have taken more pictures!!! We were exhausted by the end of the day but made it to BJ's for their sinful Pizookie and just like that, I was 29.

Wow I'm getting old. Nothing like a trip to Disneyland to help me pretend that I'm still kinda young. ;)

So I guess I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I had while in NYC this past weekend...but here is one of my favorites. Sweet little McKay insisted that he take a picture of us and this is the result!

Lord of the Rings Marathon

A few weekends ago I watched the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy-EXTENDED VERSIONS with my little brother and practically little sister Mackenzie. WOW. We started at 2:00 in the afternoon and watched all three back to back, no breaks ending at 2:35 in the morning!! It was intense. Especially watching it with obsessed fans who didn't have to read the subtitles when the characters on screen were speaking elvish!

Smeagol/Gollum drove me absolutely INSANE and I truely believed that HOBBITS were real and had once existed. I'm sure I'll never hear the end from that one.

We used Heather and her little family moving to Virginia as an excuse to get together for some delicious BBQ, swimming and LOTS of catching up!

It was so fun to see Kristie Babcock Stephens and her 4 kids!! They are living in Logan, Utah where her husband Nate is teaching at Utah State University.

Britney Nichols Aggard is the mother of 2 little boys and they live up in Kaysville, Utah.

MELISSA! So so fun to see her! She has 2 sweet little girls and a brand new baby boy. They live in Utah and Melissa looks exactly the same!!

Heather Holt Ure, John (her hubby) and their 3 kids are moving to Virginia where John has been accepted to George Mason University Law School. I will miss them!!! But, it's not like I'm not on the East coast several times a year already. I'll just have one more excuse to go and visit!

For any Seasiders from Hale 5 in '99-'00 who weren't with us...we missed you! Hopefully one of these days more of us will be able to get together.

I am deathly afraid of snakes...Even just looking at this picture of my sister Lindsay holding a Python gives me the creeps! Lindsay is currently serving a mission for our

Church in Belem, Brazil and is constantly running into all sorts

of crazy things!!

I've included, in her words, her run in with the Python.

"Funny story. Last week we had our district meeting in Abaetetuba, which is a 1 1/2 hour bus ride and when we arrived, the member who lives next to the chapel earlier that week found a python on top of the chapel! He captured it and kept it in a barrell for the fireman to come and take it away. When we arrived the Elders were joking that we would be having snake for lunch. The member pulled the python out of the barell and onto the ground as each of us took pictures. I then asked if I could hold the snake and take a picture. He laughed because not even the Elders, all Brasilian by the way, were courageous enough to hold the snake. But I was serious. So he handed me the snake, I took a picture and then.... the snake peed on me. And hollllly balogne... I stunk big time. Good times.. =p"

outside of Lenin's Tomb. We saw his ACTUAL body

laying there. CREEEEEEPY!

-I love this city.
-The Metro is so clean, super reliable and BEAUTIFUL.
-In MOscow it snows while the Sun is shining bright...so the snow is PRETTY and not COLD.
-Apparantly, Purple is the new black here. Everything from tights to shoes, hats and purses! Purple is everywhere! It's a good thing I brought my purple Puma's, my purple scarf, and my purple blanket!! =)
-What is it about finding a Hard Rock Cafe in a foreign country that makes you feel so at home? Good times and yummy food were had tonight at the HARD ROCK CAFE MOSCOW.
Disclaimer: I always seem to forget how expensive they are though.
- Lenin's actual body displayed for all to see is very creepy. And! Don't get caught with your hands in your pockets while you are in there...the russian guards will yell at you.
- You can put a scarf over your head and blend right in...you'll look just like a little russian old lady.
- Potatos just taste better here.
- Being in Moscow with my sister Krissy is the best. She makes me laugh and the random, crazy adventures we are experiencing together are so much more fun!
- We met a new friend. Her name is Oleyesa and she looks like a little porcelin doll. She has been our tour guide in exchange for a big jar of Peanut Butter.

Ya, it was a great Wednesday.

Next Wednesday I will be on a plane to the East Coast for a few days.

And then the following Wednesday...

I'll be on a plane to Boston and then to Moscow, RUSSIA!!!

I've been TAGGED a bazillion times on Facebook so I thought I'd just put it on here being that I haven't updated this BLOG in for for forever.

1. I LOVE to travel. I have a list of all the places I want to go to in the world and the list keeps growing! I have been to more countries than I am years old and have several more countries left to visit in my lifetime. I'm currently planning a trip to Israel with my sister Krissy and I'm headed to South America next year to get Lindsay! I LOVE TO TRAVEL!!!

2. I HATE mushrooms. HATE THEM.

3. I count my gulps when getting a drink at the drinking fountain. I also count my steps when walking or going up and down stairs.

4. I was on Sesame Street when I was a little girl.

5. I love tropical Fish. I once had a 180 gallon salt water fish tank but had to take it down when I packed up my life and left for Europe. I even went to the National Salt Water Aquarium Conference in Washington DC one year. Yes..I'm a nerd, I know.

6. I love SNORKELING and Scuba Diving. The Ocean fascinates me and scares me at the same time. My greatest Scuba Diving adventure was off the coast of Australia along the Great Barrier Reef. A few years ago I even got in a shark cage with my dad and a few friends in Hawaii....Sharks swimming all around us... IT WAS UNREAL!

7. I'm very easily distracted. My dad'a nickname for me is A.D.D.

8. I'm a NETFLIX Junkie. It's a little pathetic how excited I get to see the red envelope in the mailbox.

9. I love doing JIgsaw Puzzles. I'm currently working on a 1000 piece puzzle of New York City.

10. I LOVE Sushi. If I could eat Sushi everyday for all 3 meals I would. YUMMY. Japan is still on my list of places to go.....someday.

11. I play the piano. I haven't really played that much in a while, which I regret....but did the whole practicing 3 hours a day thing and competed and blah blah blah.

12. I'm addicted to Diet Coke

13. I have my Concealed Weapons Permit

14. I am in LOVE with the MOON. I have been since I was a little girl. I named the moon Telly and I've been in LOVE with it ever since!

15. I love crunchy crushed ice.

16. I am a Dallas Cowboys Season Ticket Holder. I LOVE football.

17. I'm extremely afraid of the dark and I WILL NOT watch any Horror movies.

18. I have not read any of the books in the Twilight Series and am not planning to do so anytime soon. Sorry all you TWILIGHT FREAKS!!!

19. I went skydiving in Hawaii with good friends. UNFORGETTABLE experience. My stomach landing brings lots of laughter to all those who watch the video.

20. My favorite color is Pink.

21. I have an insanely good memory. I remember every little detail, situation, story. I also NEVER forget a face.

22. I like putting things together...being creative and making things. I can be pretty crafty when I can find the time or focus to do it. I once took a wood shop class with one of my best friends and I built a coffee table. It was awesome!

23. I love the smell...after it rains.

24. I am Terrified of Snakes, ALL rodents (especially Rats), and BEES!!! I'm getting goosebumps and anxious just even thinking about them!!!

25. I was detained at the BOSTON Airport for saying BOMB. Long Story.... Maybe for a future post?? =)

WITH MY NEW PHONE!!!

Working for AT&T definitely has its PERKS! I was wishing and hoping for the

ever since I heard it was going to be released.

This morning when I went to

work my manager handed me this incredibly amazing phone

and I was screaming with excitement...all on the inside of course.

I'm totally turning into a technology geek...loving every single

function, application and feature of this phone.

My battery has already died once today from having messed with it

all day. SO FUN!!!

Today was a fabulous day...A day filled with Sushi, Massages, Birthday Cake and a Sherry Festival. What is a Sherry Festival? I didn't know myself until tonight when I walked into the room and everyone was yelling "Sherry Festival! Sherry Festival! It's a Sherry Festival!" There were balloons all over the place and a perfect pink cake on the counter. I've been with my second family...my home away from home in Virginia these past few days and the Bday festivities were so perfect, memorable, THOUGHTFUL and fun. I was even serenaded by the very handsome and talented Anders on the BASSOON!

I'm back East currently, loving every single minute of it. I have always wanted to go to Amish Country and I finally got my chance. I flew into Baltimore, where Gina and Aldi picked me up, and we drove straight up to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It was kind of a cloudy day...but the scenery was incredibly beautiful and the day couldn't have been more perfect! Thank you Gina for the memories...we'll never forget our first taste of Amish Homemade Rootbeer!!!

BYU Hawaii was such a Happy and Wonderful time in my life. Some of my closest friendships to this day are with those I met back during that time. I have tried really hard to keep in touch with as many as I can and it is so fun to get together and reminisce about all the crazy times in Hale 5! Kristi Babcock Stephens, her husband Nate and their 4 sweet children moved back to Utah after having been in Arizona for school for a few years. We all got together at my friend Heather's house and how fun it was to catch up and chase after new little ones.

time. A few weeks ago though, my almost crash into a pole (Sorry Sarah and Kelly) convinced me that I should make the time. My cute Papi Lasered my eyes 7 years ago and my eyes are still perfect. Football is Finally HERE!

Here we go! Football season if FINALLY here and as I sit here watching the cowboys play on TV I can't help but feel incredibly happy and excited all at the same time. My friend Kelly and I purchased our season tickets again earlier this year and it has been absolute torture waiting for the day that football finally starts up again. Since we scored moving up the standby list, thanks to my cousin Jeff, we've been making the pilgrimage to Dallas every year attending 2 to 3 games a season and how incredibly fun it has been! Not only do we get to see the "BOYS" play live...but we get to have some really fun times with my cousins Jeff and Brandy and their adorable little twins as well as the Brady Clan. So FUN!

The other night Kelly and I were outside walking to the car when he looked at me and said..."Can you smell that?" With my nose stuffed up, due to some really annoying allergies, I really couldn't smell anything at all but he then added "It's the smell of Football in the air. It is finally here." We're off to Dallas on Friday for the first home game and also a Monday Night Game against the the team we like to call the SEAGULLS...sorry Shar....The Philadelphia Eagles. It is the last season for the Cowboys playing in Texas Stadium so the games will be memorable and a little sad...but don't worry...We already have our seats secured in the New Stadium!! =) GO COWBOYS!!!

I finally made it back east to meet my newest little ones and I seriously can't get enough of them! I've become quite the baby hog holding littles Lyla Joy and Lola Jane every second I get. I spent most of this week in fantastic NYC and then drove down to the DC area arriving late last night and will be here until Wednesday. Beijing 2008 Olympics

I have been able to watch so much of the 2008 Olympic Games. In the past I've either been traveling, or working a lot, or just not that into it I'm afraid but this year I've really been able to get really into it and I must say I have enjoyed it very much. I've also really enjoyed the TiVo feature I have set up which has enabled me to fast forward through all the commercials or catch what I've missed while I'm at work. The inspirational stories of many of the athletes have sometimes brought me to tears and in my opinion....they should all get a medal for even just qualifying to go to the Olympics. GO TEAM USA!!!!!

While my Dad, Mom and Grandma took the nonstop flight from NYC to Berlin, Germany...We got stuck with a 4 and a half hour layover in PARIS. If we hadn't just gotten off a plane that we had been squished in for the past 8 hours...I might have been more for being a tad bit adventurous and taking a cab to the Eiffel Tower and eating a Crepe. Instead, we found the nearest empty seats and ZONKED uncomfortably until it was time to board our flight to Berlin. Oh good times with these girls!

Has it really been almost a month since I've last posted something?!! I wish a had a better excuse than just an "I've been busy"....but I'm afraid that's all I can give you. Between a very challenging and emotional past few months, a new part time job, and taking my working out and fitness goals to a completely different level....finding time to do much else has been a tad bit tricky.

I've got possibilities, opportunities, and adventures tempting me from every direction and my biggest problem is trying to decide which one to choose! So for now...I am, for the most part, doing alright and missing many of you who I haven't seen or spoken to in a while. I'm hoping to make some decisions soon and I promise to post my randomness and adventures soon to come as you all know they will! Time will only tell "Where in the World" Sherry will be!

St Patrick's Day in NYC was definitely a memorable one. There was a big parade and everywhere you looked people were wearing green. Thanks to Kelly, and the fabulous Green coat he bought me, I fit right in with the crowd. We even wore these big green and blue glasses I found in a dollar bin in Utah and just before I got on the subway to head for the airport...we had someone snap a picture of us. One of my favorite things about NYC is the FOOD! I have never left the city without having tried something new that I leave craving more and more each day I'm away. It is one reason I keep coming back to this wonderful city. Everywhere you look there is a little restaurant and whatever food you are craving and from whatever part of the world from Cambodian to Mexican and Indian to Japanese...it is only one call away and almost all deliver! This trip I finally made it to Magnolia Bakery. I have been dying to try their cupcakes ever since I watched the gals on "Sex and the City" devour their Pink Cupcakes. Noah, Kristi, McKay and I all worked our way down and tried a few different ones and they sure were tasty. Sorry Tyler, but I totally went over my calories today! =( Tomorrow I return home, but not without trying a few new places I've had my eyes on.

My BEAUTIFUL mother celebrates one more year of life today! I just put most of my pictures on a zip drive that I've misplaced (surprise, surprise) and this was the only one I could find.

My dad and I were very sneaky this year and sent her to the East Coast for 10 days dedicated just for and only to her! At first she didn't want to take the time to leave...fearing that there was to much to do at home...but we convinced her it was all just going to have to wait!

I just wanted to publicly express my love for this woman. She is an incredible example to me and to so many. I love her for her tremendous amount of courage, Faith and her ability to make everything better. From her "Momisms" to her cute laugh and her FAMOUS MAYAN TREASURE SALSA, my mom brightens everyone's day. I can honestly say that I, along with many many others, are better people having her in our lives.

Reminiscing Warmth

I am looking out the window right now at all the white snow covering the ground. I am laying in bed with my sweet grandma next to me cuddled up tight in a warm blanket as she recoups from surgery. The space heater is set to high and I have put three pairs of socks on my feet and yet they are STILL cold.

September and October we are ready for a change of season and by November we anxiously await the first snowfall. In December we all hope for a White Christmas because well, that's how it is supposed to be and it wouldn't be Christmas without it. The skiers and snow boarders hit the slopes on the snow covered mountains and Snowmen start to appear on neighboring lawns. Then January...a brand new year begins and we are busily distracted by our sincere desires to work on our New Years Resolutions. Soon January ends, February creeps by and then it is now, the time of year I hate the most!

I am tired of getting all bundled up just to go to the gym. My feet have been freezing cold since November. The snow is no longer beautiful and driving in it ruins my entire day! I try to see the good and happy of the lingering cold weather but inside my mind I am counting the days until the sun shines down brightly, spreading its warmth down on everyone and everything.

It was this time, a little over a year ago that my good friend Kelly and I had just about had enough! We decided to get away taking our friend Nedra up on her invitation to spend a long weekend at her beautiful home in Maui. Hawaii has always had such a special place in my heart...it is my happy place and I often go there in my mind. From my days spent there at BYU-Hawaii to the several opportunities I've had to get away and go there on vacation....I can't help but think that for me it is no longer a luxury but a necessity.

Again, as I look outside the window at the cold, icy snow I now close my eyes and picture myself on those magical, white sandy beaches of Hawaii. Thank you Nedra for a beautiful trip and thank you Hawaii for countless moments of WARMTH, serenity and peace.

Meet Francisca Verónica Samol Xicay who is a beautiful little girl from Guatemala. She is 9 years old and in the 4th grade.

Many of you know about my involvement with The Rose Education Foundation and the big part it has had in my life and in the life of my family. We have been involved with this foundation from day 1 and have been very blessed to be a part of it. I recently received an email from a woman and friend who works full time in our Patzicia School. She shared with me the story of this young girl and her family and I must say it touched me. She wrote:

"In October Francisca's sister was kidnapped and killed. It was amazing to see the response of the community here to this family who live in a tiny house with nothing to their name. It is obvious to see that the family is loved and respected. Everyone turned out to the Stake Center to offer their love. The family had no anger, they just wanted to concentrate on keeping together and expressing their love."

There are so many people not just in Guatemala, but all over the world who are less fortunate then we are. I wish I could help everyone but know that I can not as much as I would like to. I've decided to sponsor this little girl and with $50 a month, this sweet girl will be able to receive an excellent education, school supplies and a better chance in life.

I wish I had unlimited funds to help every single child. Francisca has 5 other siblings who would love to go to school as well. If anyone is interested in sponsoring a child, let me know. There are so many ways to help, and if $10 a month is all you can do....believe me it is something and will help so many little lives!

Sister Krissy Ellsworth

My Beautiful sister Krissy who has been serving a mission in Germany will be home so soon! I can't believe how fast time goes by. It really does seem like yesterday we were dropping her off at the MTC in Provo. I am so excited to go and pick her up, to see her and give her a great big hug! I just received a letter from her today and I wanted to share a part of it. What an example she is to me and I love her so much.

We were running to catch a bus one winter night, when I felt this force stopping me in my tracks. After my companion asked me what was wrong, I looked around and the only person in sight was a man standing behind his bike on the corner of the street. I felt strongly impressed to approach him and talk to him. He introduced himself as Herr Herrmann. We talked for a few minutes, I got his phone number and address and we ran off after promising him we would give the information to our colleagues in the neighboring part of the city where he lived.

The sisters in Tiergarten did contact him and started to teach him. He went to church and Institute, and received an answer from God about the truthfulness of the Gospel! I got to meet him a few weeks ago for the first time since I talked to him back in October. It was a cool reunion. He thanked me for giving him the opportunity to have the gospel in his life, which now brings him so much joy. He asked me to play the piano at his baptismal service, which I did.

I know that the Lord led me to find Andre. I was only His instrument. Andre was prepared to accept the Gospel! After talking to Andre for awhile, I found out that he actually had no reason to be there at the corner of the street that night. He had just planned to go on a bike ride throughout the city and had no route or destination planned. He ended up at the corner of our street at the same time that we were running down it. The Spirit prompted me to stop and I did. How grateful I am, and he is, that I followed that prompting and acted on it. Andre told me that He knows now that God led him to that spot.

I'm finally getting settled, sort of, we'll see how long it lasts! ANYWAYS! I just had to share my excitement over my latest purchase. I feel all grown up now having just yesterday bought myself the coolest bright red couch and the cutest little black table! It is so weird how such a simple thing can take on a whole new and interesting meaning. I'm no longer running around in the dorms or "Hale's" at BYU HAWAII, or living with 3 other room mates in zoobie zone PROVO, Utah, nor am I being forced to cram me and my whole life in a room the size of anyone's closet! It is my second day in my new house and it feels weird but so good. These past six months living out of a suitcase have been adventurous and tiring. I've learned a lot, met so many wonderful people, and experienced more than most people do in a lifetime. So for today, I will take my fabulous splurges and mark them symbols of taking yet another step forward in life and as I sit on my new couch twiddling my thumbs... I can't help but ask myself, What's Next?

A New Favorite!

In Huntington Beach, where we spent the afternoon shopping, we came across a restaurant which has become one of my new absolute favorites! It is called BJ's RESTAURANT and not only did I scarf down both their BBQ Chicken Salad and a slice of their famous deep dish buffalo chicken pizza but just about died when the waiter brought out BJ'S FAMOUS PIZOOKIE!!!

For those of you who don't know what a Pizookie is, I highly recommend you find out! It is a fresh out of the oven cookie baked in a skillet with scoops of vanilla ice cream on top. It was enough for the 5 of us to share, but I was secretly wishing there was just one spoon and I was the one

holding it! My dear friend Megan spoiled Kelly and I while we were down in Dallas for the last Cowboys game with her own version of the Pizookie. I've made up my mind that I am either going to have to petition they build a BJ's here in Utah or I might just have to fly Megan out here because I crave this sinful dessert at least twice a day!!

27 Dresses

I was craving a girls night and last night's Red Robin for dinner and the movie "27 Dresses" was the perfect night out I was looking for. I had been wanting to see it ever since the first previews had come out. It was the classic chick flick and being a big Grey's Anatomy fan, anything with Katherine Heigl was worth going to see. James Marsden wasn't all that bad to look at either ;) Katherine played Jane, who is idealistic, romantic and completely selfless – a perennial bridesmaid whose own happy ending is nowhere in sight.

I found myself relating to Jane in so many ways. Her inability to say NO made me relate to her even more so. I will also admit, that yes...there are times I find myself wanting my own fairytale or my own happy ending, but then again I continue to thrive off of the countless opportunities I have had to learn and grow from my travels and be inspired by the people I meet along the way. I am content with and being who I am NOW and for the moment it works for me. Someday when I learn to say NO, Life will be so very different for me...but until then, I'll keep being Sherry! That being said, is there anything I can I do for YOU?

Last week I decided I had had enough of the cold and decided to head west for some good old Californian Sun!!! I also volunteered to pick up some computers for the Rose Foundation in San Bernardino and my little cousin Bruce...who isn't so little anymore! got married on Saturday and it all worked out perfectly! I got my wonderful cousin Jose to come along and it was good times cruisin down I-15 South making a quick stop in St George to see my parents who were there and then heading straight to the reception. Oh how I crave their ever so naughty cheeseburgers and fries! My Uncle Julio treated us after the wedding and even though I was already full with wedding food and cake, I had no problem making room for this deliciously greasy/bad for you meal!!!

DAVID the GNOME goes to the Caribbean!

Good Old David the Gnome has been with me for about 3 years now and has survived all my travels around the world. Many of you have had the chance to meet him and those who haven't...I'm sure we'll both be knocking on your door one of these days. He has climbed the Great Wall of China, played in the sand in Maui and Miami, attended Dallas Cowboys games in both Dallas and Arizona. He has ridden the busy subways of both New York and Washington D.C., hiked through the jungle of Tikal in Guatemala, and backpacked through Italy and Switzerland! Here are a few pictures from his latest trip in the beautiful Caribbean.

Here I am trying out the new underwater digital video camera! What a fun little toy it is and

an even better way to share my experiences! In the video it takes me a minute to figure it

Kelly flew into town last minute and we (Scott, Stin, Kelly and I) were all invited to a "How to Host a Murder" Dinner. We each were given characters and it was set in a 1920's HOuse of Ill Repute. Stin and I had way to much fun with our wigs and Scott and Kelly both took home the prizes for best costume and best performance of their character. We had about 13 people all in all and it was a very fun way to ring in the new year!
